Cosmocred means Cosmos Credits, it is abbreviated CC or cc.

In Cosmos we have our own credit system. Each credit is roughly equal to one day of work. Each day is considered to include 8 hours of study.

A traditional Bachelor's honours degree from a normal university would correspond to 450 cosmocreds (this assessment is done by dividing the hours of study of a Bachelor's degree, which are 3600 hours, by 8, the number of study hours in a day as defined by Cosmocred, which gives the number of days a student would need to study full-time and is expressed as cosmocreds since 1 cc is 1 day.).

A British Master's degree from a normal UK university would correspond to 225 cosmocreds (this assessment is done by dividing the hours of study of a typical Master's in Britain, which are 1800 hours, by 8, giving us the number of full-time days a student would need to study to achieve the mental development represented by this qualification, and this amount of days is expressed as cosmocreds).

A Doctoral degree (3-year) from a normal university would correspond to 675 cosmocreds (this assessment is done by dividing the hours of study of a typical Doctorate, which are 5400 hours, by 8, giving us the number of days a student would need to study full-time in order to achieve a more or less equal mental development, and this amount is expressed as cosmocreds as 1 cc is 1 day).

Similarly, a Foundation degree would be 300 cc (2400 hours divided by 8) and a non-honours ordinary Bachelor's degree would be 375 cc (3000 hours divided by 8).

To compare with other systems, bear in mind that in the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) framework one has to get 180 ECTS credits (or 360 CATS credits in the British framework) in order to complete a Bachelor's degree, which is usually spead over 3 years with the Bologna process. In ECTS each ECTS credit is usually linked to 20 hours of study, while in CATS eacdh British CATS credit is linked to 10 hours of study. So, in CATS and ECTS a Bachelor's degree represents 3600 hours of study (expressed as 360 credits in CATS and 180 credits in ECTS).

A British Master's degree is typically 180 CATS credits so in theory a Master's degree from a UK university corresponds to 1800 hours of study.

In the ECTS system, a Doctoral degree corresponds to 270 ECTS credits, which in theory should correspond to 540 CATS British credits. Therefore a Doctoral degree should require 5400 hours of study.

Here is a table summarising the credits:

Note that cosmocred is not a recognised credit system. It is just a way to describe how much effort you have put on your personal studies. But you cannot use Cosmocred to transfer to a normal university. Cosmos is not a university. Cosmocred is just our own language for use inside our community.
