Abstract: This is a short introduction to the theory of adaptation using John H. Holland's book.

Declaration: The author, NSK Nikolaos S. Karastathis, derives no commercial benefit from the mathema's set book.

2 Prolegomenon

John H. Holland published his monograph book Adaptation in natural and artificial systems: an introductory analysis with applications to biology, control, and artificial intelligence in 1975, and MIT Press republished it in 1992. It is the book which introduced genetic algorithms [ref?] (or what was known at the time as genetic plan [1:x]). In the first 5 years it kept selling 100-200 copies a year [1:viv].
